The building embodies the simple and contained dimensions of a stand, comprising within all areas of activity set out in the programme. When viewed from the East, the building is no more than a stand however, when seen from the West it acquires all the characteristics of a public building with a clearly visible main entrance, secondary entrances and an extensive horizontal opening aimed at illuminating and ventilating the foyers.
The adaptation of a gridiron for solar protection across the whole length of the Western façade not only produces a positive effect on the thermal activity of the building, but also constitutes a decisive artistic element in its defining image, creating an impression of transparency in contrast to the opaque and richer textures of the concrete surfaces on show.
The metallic structure coated in white PVC tensile membrane covering the stands, although basically serving to protect the spectators from the elements, contributes, with its curved and elegant outline in the form of a shell and the lightness of its structure, towards the aesthetic value of the building.

O edifício apresenta a volumetria simples e contida de uma bancada sob a qual se acomodaram todas as funções que constavam do programa. No entanto, se visto do quadrante Este, ele é apenas uma bancada, visto do quadrante Oeste, adquire o carácter de um edifício público com uma fachada onde são claramente visíveis a entrada principal, as entradas secundárias, e um extenso rasgamento horizontal que ilumina e ventila os foyers.
A utilização de uma grelha de protecção solar a toda a extensão da fachada Poente, para além do efeito positivo que desempenha no comportamento térmico do edifício, constitui um elemento plástico decisivo para a definição da imagem do edifício, criando efeitos de transparência e contraste com as superfícies opacas e de textura mais rica dos paramentos em betão aparente.
Para cobrir a tribuna recorreu-se a uma estrutura metálica revestida por membrana tênsil em PVC de cor branca. Trata-se de uma cobertura em forma de concha, estruturada por perfis curvos e esbeltos, destinada a abrigar os espectadores, mas cuja leveza contribui para valorizar esteticamente o edifício.
